The winter Solstice project
For this project, my aim was to capture Halloween, but focusing more on its Nordic origin rather than the westernised interpretation that has become the custom.
The creation process
- Choosing the style
In order to better understand what the final picture should look like it was key to research the traditions of Samhain and Saturnalia.
Creating the foundation
After learning from my previous experience in working with miniatures and digital backgrounds, I photographed the foreground, middle and background on separate greenscreen plates in order to have more control of the final result when using Photoshop.
Building on the foundation
Once I had the greenscreen plates and the digital background ready, I proceeded to develop the various drafts of the final picture using Adobe Photoshop.
The Final product
After streamlining the editing process, I achieved this final result. I picture that uses both practical and digital elements to create imagery that is more reminiscent of the pagan style of Halloween.
